What’s next ?

 

« Health Capacities as a New Power Instrument », is scheduled on November 19th at 3 pm (Moroccan time). What are the ramifications of the COVID-19 disease outbreak on the distribution of power? Given the increased attention and funding health has garnered following the pandemic, how can the WHO mitigate power imbalances within the global health governance field? To what extent has COVID-19 shifted state priorities and encouraged the incorporation of health as a dimension of foreign policy?

 

To answer those questions, three distinguished guests will sit around the virtual table : Obiageli Katryn Ezekwesili (Nigeria), Senior Economic Advisor, Africa Economic Development Policy Initiative, Anand Reddi (USA), Manager Health Systems Strenghtening, Gilead Sciences Inc and Kheston Walkins (Trinidad & Tobago), CEO, Chief NeuroInnovation Officer, Allegori.

 

 

« The Other Pandemic : Systemic Racism in the Times of Covid 19 », is scheduled on November 24th at 3 pm (Moroccan time). How are structural and institutional racism contributing to the disproportionate effects of the pandemic on minorities? Why do Black people in the US, Brazil, the UK and beyond become infected and die from COVID-19 at higher rates than Whites? Should racism be declared a public health crisis? What policy responses should be considered to bridge the disparities and address systemic racism and its consequences during a pandemic?
